Donna Elizabeth Blumer passed away peacefully on October 25th, 2024. She was 67 years old. Born May 6th, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois, she later graduated from Western Illinois University in 1979 with a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education. Donna went on to graduate in 1981 from Southeast Missouri State University with a Masters Degree in Physical Education.
Donna was a competitive scholarship gymnast while at WIU. She later coached Women’s Gymnastics at Southeast Missouri State while working toward her graduate degree.
She married Steve Blumer in 1984 and they relocated to Clearwater, Florida. Donna taught at Riviera Middle school for four years and in 1989 she became the Athletic Director at Dixie Hollins High School.
Donna was an avid member of the Florida High School Athletic Administrators Association (FIAAA). In 1997 she became the first female president of the FIAAA. In 2001 Donna was named The Athletic Director of the Year for the State of Florida.
In 2017 Donna and husband Steve, Athletic Director at Countryside High School, both retired from Pinellas County Schools on the same day. Donna was an educator for 33 years.
In 2018 she was inducted into the Florida High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
The couple celebrated their 40th Anniversary in 2024.
