Susan Patricia Golden age 79 of St. Petersburg, Florida died November 25, 2023 at St. Anthony’s Hospital.

Susan was born January 8, 1944 in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of Philip Eugene Golden, a streetcar repairman, and Mary Margaret Griffin Golden, a longtime clerk for the state of Maryland and the Baltimore Social Services Department. She was raised on Wade Avenue in Catonsville, Maryland.

Although Susan had numerous career accomplishments and interests over the years, founding Universal Music Day in 2007, publishing the book ABZ’s of Musical Instruments, and creating the Family Music Network brought her the most joy because they combined her love for music with her love for people, especially children. She delighted in being known as “Aunt Susie” to her nieces, nephews and other children with whom she shared her love for music.

Ms. Golden was a long time resident of Silver Spring, Maryland where she had a private counseling practice. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland and a Master of Arts degree from Bowie State College. Prior to that, she worked for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines for several years which allowed her to pursue her love for travel and adventure.

Susan relocated to Florida approximately 20 years ago and lived at Trinity House in St. Petersburg for several years until her health deteriorated.

Survivors include: Several loving nieces and nephews, brother-in-law Harry E. Ottey of Annapolis, MD, and numerous friends in Florida and elsewhere that she considered family

She was preceded in death by her five sisters Mary A. Plunkett, Katherine E. Zimmer, Ann G. Kirstukas, Peggy L. Cocco, and Sheila M. Ottey.

A Celebration of Life service for Susan will take place Jan 27th at 10am at Sacred Lands on 1700 Park St N, St. Petersburg, FL 33710.

Susan spent many years joyously giving of her time and self. Susan’s stand for the power of music and the difference
it makes for humanity is and was profound. Her kitty Nikko was the love of her life and she trusted us with his care. Nikko was one of kind. Both Nikko and Susan touched my life.

I am very saddened to hear of Susan’s passing. We attended many Landmark seminars together in St. Pete and Clearwater. She also assisted in many Landmark seminars and courses. She made a real difference in people’s lives.
Rest in peace, Susan, and may light perpetual shine upon you.

I met Susan in early 2014 and I got to know her as an accomplished author. Just before COVID she gave me her latest book about music for children. When I heard about her not doing well, I told my boss about it and he wanted to keep the book for his niece. I gave it to him. I think Susan would have liked that, sharing music with everyone. Thank you, Larry, for allowing me to care for her. I will be at the memorial service.
    God Bless

I met Susan through Landmark Worldwide. She was a Graduate and a person who assisted with their programs, including the leadership program I led. She drove every Friday to Apollo Beach, Flor to empower the participants in the program. She was always out to make a difference with people. RIP Susan.

I met Susan in the late 1970s as we both participated in a women’s group. She became very close to my family, hiring my son to help her with some of her computer issues, and being very involved with my daughter who was born in 1981. Always an attentive listener, she saw most situations from a variety of angles and almost could not help but to offer another way to consider each situation. While she lived in Silver Spring we got together frequently. Once she moved to Florida we relied mostly on phone calls, but she showed her commitment to my family by attending my daughter’s wedding in Chicago in 2009 and by driving to Maryland to be part of my husband’s and my fiftieth wedding anniversary celebration in 2017.
    She was a dear friend.
